Lahore Qalandars Previews
The fifth season of Pakistan Super League had not changed the luck of Lahore Qalandars so far. They have continued their tradition of occupying the last place on the points table after winning just one out of five matches played. Some match-winning performances by Samit Patel and Ben Dunk had not to change the luck of the Qalandars. The addition of Salman Butt had not been good for the Lahore Qalandars as he had failed to put some big runs on the board and his scoring average is also bad. Mohammad Hafeez played the inning of 98 runs in one match but had failed to score in the next matches. Chris Lynn also played a good inning in the match that they won but he failed to continue his good form up to the next match. The performance of Ben Dunk also had not been impressive in the previous matches. Shaheen Afridi was injured and was not the part of the playing eleven in the last match while Usman Shinwari took his place and performed well. Although he failed to pick wickets his average was good. Lahore Qalandars had left five matches and they should have to win almost all matches to move to the next level of PSL T20.
Lahore Qalandars lost their most recent match against Islamabad United by a massive margin of 71 runs where they won the toss and elected to field first. Their bowling unit failed to perform well in that match as they were charged for 198 runs in their inning of 20 overs. Salman Irshad, Muhammad Faizan, and Mohammad Hafeez picked one wicket each while Samit Patel, Usman Shinwari, Dilbar Hussain, and Seekkuge Prasanna were the bowlers who failed to get any wicket. Like the bowling, the batting order of the Qalandars also collapsed in the previous match. They were all-out after scoring 127 runs in 18.5 overs. Usman Shinwari was the highest run-scorer from their side who scored 30 runs on 14 deliveries with the help of four maximum sixes. Ben Dunk scored 25 runs while Salman Butt could manage to score 21 runs. Almost seven batsmen from their side failed to enter into double-figure.
Quetta Gladiators Previews
Quetta Gladiators had failed to perform as per expectations so far in his season of PSL T20. Three wins from seven matches had put the Gladiators on the second position from the bottom of the table. Ben Cutting, Shane Watson, and Jason Roy had been outstanding in this tournament and because of these three international stars, the Gladiators look competitive. Azam Khan played two match-winning innings but he had failed to put some big runs on the board for the last three matches. Mohammad Nawaz and Sarfaraz Ahmed had scored some runs in the previous matches but had not performed well. We had not seen any promising inning from Ahmed Shahzad so far as he had played in almost all previous matches. We had noticed that the batting order of Quetta Gladiators had fallen down at the wrong time. We had seen some best bowling performance by Naseem Shah and he had played a key role in each and every match. Tymal Mills, Ben Cutting, and Mohammad Hasnain have to play a role to take their team out of pressure. Gladiators had left three matches and almost these are the must-win for them.
Quetta Gladiators is coming to this match on the back of losing in the previous match against Peshawar Zalmi in their most recent match. That was a rain-affected match and was reduced to 15 overs per side. They won the toss and decided to field first to take the advantages of moisture on the pitch but their bowling unit almost failed to give their best performance in that match. They were charged for 170 runs in their inning of 15 overs. Mohammad Hasnain was the only successful bowler from their side who picked four wickets in his three overs bowled out against 34 runs. Sohail Khan and Ben Cutting picked one wicket each. The batting order of Quetta Gladiators also failed to chase a huge target on the board. They could manage to score 140 runs in their 15 overs inning while chasing the target of 171 runs. Jason Roy had a superb performance with the bat. He scored 45 runs on 26 deliveries with the help of five boundaries and two maximum sixes. Shane Watson scored 19 runs while Mohammad Nawaz had 18 runs to his name.
